Parents
Teach your young drivers to be courteous and careful. Set an example for young drivers every time you get behind the wheel.

Employers
Allow flex time, telecommuting, and compressed work weeks for employees. When employees don't have to fight traffic every rush hour, make it to off-site meeting in too little time, or be penalized for every tardiness, morale goes up and aggressive driving incidents go down.

Law Enforcement
Crack down hard on aggressive driving, strictly enforcing traffic safety laws.

Families & Friends
Recognize anger and frustration in those you care about. It's shown in their driving. Make sure they allow enough time for commuting, errands and trips.

Other Transportation
Use it! Public transportation, taxis, and car and van pools let you relax on the road, plus help relieve congestion.

The Media
Traffic problems and aggressive driving are some of the biggest human interest stories in our area. The power of the press can call attention to behavior, situations and solutions.

If we all followed some simple rules, it would help reduce the aggressive driving problem. Driving and safety experts recommend:

1. Always allow extra travel time.
2. Maintain an adequate distance from the vehicle in front of you so you're able to stop in time to avoid a collision.
3. Always signal your intention to other drivers when turning and changing lanes.
4. Always come to a full stop at red lights and stop signs. Don't run yellow lights.
5. Let other drivers merge with you.
6. Obey posted speed limits.
7. Concentrate on your driving--not on your cell phone, stereo, passengers or other distraction.
8. Use your horn sparingly, only to remind other drivers of your presence.
9. Never engage in inappropriate behavior such as making faces or rude or obscene gestures.
10. Extend common courtesy to other drivers at all times.
