| Point System Conference The Point System Conference (PSC) is a 2-hour program that is intended to acquaint drivers with Maryland law regarding the Point System and the possible suspension or revocation of their driving privilege due to accumulated points. You will be assigned to attend a PSC if you have accumulated 5, 6, or 7 points on your driving record within any two-year period. If you are required to attend a PSC, the MVA will send you a referral notice, along with a list of PSC providers. After receiving the notice, you must do the following:
Upon completion of your class, you will receive a certificate of completion from the PSC/DIP provider.
If you cannot attend your scheduled PSC due to extenuating circumstances, you must provide the MVA with a reasonable explanation, along with supporting documentation. If your explanation is acceptable, you will be rescheduled for another point system conference and sent a new point system conference referral letter. As an alternative to attending a PSC, you may take the longer (6-8 hour) Driver Improvement Program (DIP), by the DIP due date printed on your PSC referral notice. If you do not attend either a PSC or a DIP by the applicable due date printed on your PSC referral notice, the MVA will suspend your driving privileges. You will be notified of the suspension by letter, in which you also will be instructed to surrender your driver’s license to any full service MVA branch office. You must successfully complete a DIP before you can apply for a new driver’s license. Fees:
